Teva introduces generic Valsartan and Valsartan HCTZ in UK
Teva has expanded its UK range with the addition of generic Valsartan tablets and capsules, plus Valsartan Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) tablets.
The new products are off-label versions of Diovan and Co-Diovan from Novartis and are indicated for use in the treatment of heart failure, hypertension and recent myocardial infarction.
Available immediately in the Teva 360 livery, the products have been launched immediately after the patent on the brand name versions expired, joining a range of 19 new product introduced by Teva this year.
For example, the company introduced its own versions of Salmeterol pMDI and Olanzapine last month.
Kim Innes, commercial director for the generics specialist, said the introduction of off-label products helps pharmacies to improve their margins, while delivering savings for the NHS.
"As the leading generics company in the country and with the widest portfolio of our competitors, Teva continues with strong product launches and patent expiries," she said.
