Pfizer completes buyout of Ferrosan consumer health unit
Pfizer has finalised its takeover of the consumer health business of fellow healthcare company Ferrosan.
The pharmaceuticals giant has purchased the business unit from owner Altor 2003 Fund GP Limited in a bid to expand the scope of its operations, both in terms of its product range and geographical remit.
Ferrosan Consumer Health is responsible for health products such as the multivitamin offering Multi-tabs, the Bifiform probiotics range and oral skin care leader Imedeen.
Paul Sturman, president of Pfizer consumer healthcare, said the completion of the buyout will position the company particularly well in Poland, Ukraine and the Nordic countries.
"Through this acquisition, we'll have the opportunity to provide a broader portfolio of highly trusted and differentiated products to consumers," he said.
This comes after Pfizer announced last week that it will be purchasing the privately owned Excaliard Pharmaceuticals, which specialises in treatments for skin fibrosis, a common condition affecting recent surgery patients.
