Advanced Medical Solutions announces Resorba takeover

Advanced Medical Solutions has announced that it will be acquiring the wound care and wound closure business Resorba for around 55 million pounds.

The Germany-based company is being purchased as Advanced Medical Solutions seeks to expand its product portfolio, improve its cross-selling opportunities and provide it with access to a new market, oral surgery.

Resorba is a long-established partner of its new parent company, having distributed the Advanced Medical Solutions LiquiBand wound closure product for more than eight years.

Chris Meredith, chief executive officer of Advanced Medical Solutions, said examining potential takeover opportunities is part of its growth strategy, adding that Resorba fits its purchasing criteria perfectly.

"I am confident that the enlarged group will benefit from a wide range of commercial opportunities that will enable us to continue the strong progress made in recent years," he added.

According to its most recent financial report in September, strong sales figures were recorded by the company in the first half of 2011, thanks in large part to demand for LiquiBand.
