Lilly honoured in corporate leadership rankings

Lilly has been named as one of the top companies in the world in terms of corporate leadership in a new report from consultancy group Aon Hewitt.

The pharmaceutical company was ranked 16th on the global 25 list and 12th on the North American list, winning praise for its high standard of talent management and leadership practices.

According to the firm, Lilly's strong performance in this survey is based on robust internal policies, such as its commitment to succession planning, its numerous training opportunities and its frequent recruitment of non-US business leaders.

Steve Fry, senior vice-president of human resources and diversity, said Lilly considers it vital to have a strong supply of talent in place and to cultivate potential new leaders.

"Just as we work diligently to advance our drug pipeline, we need to do the same for our people pipeline. We are constantly working to identify and develop leaders," he added.

Last week, the company announced the launch of a new international study, which will aim to assess potential barriers to successful insulin treatment faced by diabetes patients.
