Agilent Technologies completes BioSystem Development takeover
Agilent Technologies has completed its takeover of BioSystem Development, a privately-held developer of innovative products for the life science sector.
Having announced the takeover at the start of December 2011, the agreement will allow Agilent to work more closely with BioSystem Development to create technology that improves efficiency and reduces development times.
BioSystem Development is responsible for creating the AssayMAP Microchromatography platform, which is used for the automation of complex, multi-step sample preparation workflows.
The system is used in protein purification, characterisation and analysis projects for bioprocess development, as well as biomarker identification and analysis.
A company statement said: "The acquisition formalises and streamlines the ongoing collaboration between BioSystem Development and Agilent to combine AssayMAP technology with Agilent's industry-leading automated liquid handling platforms."
This follows on from the completion of Agilent's buyout of Halo Genomics earlier this month, in the same week that the BioSystem Development merger was originally announced.
