Eurosurgical to distribute LuViva cervical scanner in UK

Eurosurgical has been selected as the exclusive UK distributor of the LuViva Advanced Cervical Scan system by manufacturer Guided Therapeutics.

The device is intended for use as a follow-up to a positive Pap smear test result, scanning the cervix to identify cancer and pre-cancer in a painless and non-invasive manner.

Using biophotonic technology to distinguish between normal and abnormal tissue, LuViva can be used without the need for laboratory analysis or a tissue sample, allowing around 40 percent of unnecessary follow-up procedures to be eliminated.

Eurosurgical has been selected as the UK seller of the device based on its established presence in the gynaecology sector, allowing the company to fend off competition from a number of competitors.

George Cranstone, chairman of Eurosurgical, said: "We believe LuViva will be an excellent addition to our gynaecology product offerings."

The company, which has been in operation since 1988, also offers products in the fields of plastic surgery and sexual health, providing total coverage of the UK and Irish markets.
