SonoSite to introduce new chief financial officer

SonoSite has announced that Anil Amlani is to take over the role of chief financial officer (CFO) of the company on January 2nd 2012.

Mr Amlani, the current president and chief executive officer of SonoSite's VisualSonics subsidiary, will bring more than 20 years of business experience to the role, while he has also served as a CFO for different firms for 11 years in total.

He has been with VisualSonics since 2005 and helped to oversee its acquisition by SonoSite last year, while previous employers include Cancom, MDS Proteomics and TD Bank.

Mr Amlani succeeds the outgoing Marcus Smith, who will step down as CFO, treasurer and senior vice-president on January 2nd before leaving the company three days later.

Kevin Goodwin, SonoSite's president and chief executive officer, said: "We thank Marcus for his leadership and wish him success as he pursues new opportunities."

This comes in the same month that SonoSite announced that it has accepted a takeover bid by imaging technology specialist Fujifilm.
