Philips claims ten Good Design 2011 awards

Philips has been presented with a total of ten Good Design Awards for 2011, honouring the quality of its products for a wide range of applications.

The awards are presented annually to honour products and industry leaders in design and manufacturing, with winning entries going on display at the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.

Among the healthcare-related devices to win prizes this year were the spacious Philips Ingenia MRI machine, the robust and waterproof Lifeline AutoAlert fault detection sensor and the TrueBlue gel nasal mask for sleep assistance.

This brings the total number of industry accolades claimed by the company in the last year to 99.

Sean Carney, chief design officer at Philips, said: "We are very pleased with this result. Compared to last year, the number of awards that Philips has received for outstanding design has almost doubled."

Last month, the Philips Allura FD10 cardiac system won praise from the Royal Preston Hospital, thanks to the efficiency and performance benefits it has provided for the NHS facility.
