BDA chair receives OBE in New Year’s Honours List

British Dental Association (BDA) executive board chair Dr Susie Sanderson has been named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the New Year's Honours List.

Dr Sanderson, who has been chair of the trade organisation since February 2006, was recognised for her services to dentistry and was one of a number of industry figures to receive accolades.

The Liverpool Dental School graduate is responsible for work pertaining to health policy, education, general practice and dental care standards, while representing the UK at the Council of European Dentists and the European Regional Organisation, among other bodies.

Other members of the dental profession to receive honours included Professor Jimmy Steele, who was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his work on the 2008 review of NHS dental services in England.

Meanwhile, British Association of Dental Nurses president Angie McBain was also named a Member of the Order of the British Empire.
