BMI Healthcare reaches agreement with Bupa over care contract
BMI Healthcare has signed a three-year agreement with Bupa over the provision of long-term patient care.
Under the terms of the new arrangement, Bupa members will be able to access private health services across most of BMI Healthcare's hospital network, with the Gisburne Park Hospital, Lancaster Hospital and The Castle Consulting Suite remaining exempt.
The contract has been described by BMI Healthcare as being representative of a closer working relationship between the firms, allowing BMI to maintain care quality standards while investing more into its facilities.
John Von Klemperer, managing director of hospital operations at BMI Healthcare, said it is important that BMI and Bupa work together as the UK enters a "changing healthcare landscape".
"This will take some of the burden off the NHS as it faces a combination of increased demand and budget cuts," he explained.
Last November, the company agreed a new partnership with Guys' and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London, which will create a new wholesaler and procurement service for general medical surgical consumables.
