Galderma launches new pump dispenser for MetroGel
Galderma has announced the introduction of a new pump dispenser design for MetroGel One Percent, its topical treatment for lesions associated with rosacea.
The new MetroGel One Percent Pump recently won approval from US regulators and has been shown in studies as being preferred by patients over tubes, due to its superior aesthetics and greater ease of handling.
Respondents to a survey also stated that they believed pump delivery of the topical metronidazole treatment would make it easier for them to follow doctors' instructions on usage.
MetroGel One Percent has been clinically proven to help address the symptoms of this incurable skin condition, with patients experiencing a median reduction in inflammatory lesions of 71 percent after ten weeks.
Dr Debra Luftman of the Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles said: "It makes sense to provide this proven treatment to patients in a way that suits their desire for more convenience."
Galderma is currently developing a new therapy option for facial erythema associated with rosacea, publishing positive phase IIb trial data on the drug last October.
