Biotronik completes testing of EHR DataSync system

Biotronik has completed its testing for new technology that allows its Biotronik Home Monitoring system to be connected to third-party electronic health record (EHR) and cardiovascular data management systems.

Earlier this month, the company participated in the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise North American Connectathon in Chicago, which provided it with the opportunity to evaluate the implantable device cardiac observation profile of Biotronik Home Monitoring.

The resulting connecting technology will be called Biotronik EHR DataSync and has been shown to enable physicians and hospitals to seamlessly share data, offering compatibility with established EHR systems such as Epic and Medical Micrographics, as well as emerging options such as ScottCare's OneView CRM.

Jake Langer, president of Biotronik, said: "Electronic health records support efficient access to important patient healthcare information, so making this data readily available via secure data transport is vital."

Last month, the company published a study showing how Biotronik Home Monitoring can help reduce hospitalisation rates among pacemaker patients, compared to standard clinical care.
