Biogen Idec appoints executive vice-president for human resources

Biogen Idec has appointed Kenneth DiPietro as its new executive vice-president for human resources (HR).

Mr DiPietro joins the pharmaceutical company from electronics manufacturer Lenovo and has more than 30 years of experience in HR and organisational development roles, working for firms such as Microsoft and Dell.

In his new role at Biogen Idec, he will be responsible for the development and execution of the company's HR strategy worldwide, including talent management and acquisition, compensation, benefits, operations and systems.

Dr George Scangos, chief executive officer of Biogen Idec, said creating an effective business culture is vital to its future success.

He added: "In Ken, we have a proven leader who I'm confident will foster and build upon our culture of excellence as we enter a period of great opportunity for Biogen Idec."

This comes after the firm appointed Tony Kingsley as executive vice-president of global commercial operations in November 2011.
