St Jude Medical launches Merlin.net version 5.0

St Jude Medical has announced the launch of a new version of its Merlin.net Patient Care Network system, which incorporates advanced remote monitoring capabilities.

Version 5.0 of the telehealth system introduces a raft of features to make it easier for clinicians to access important alerts, most prominently via the debut of Mobile DirectAlerts notifications.

This secure physician notification technology allows users to receive messages on their mobile devices – including iPhone, Android, iPad and Blackberry – when a patient has an alert-triggering event, allowing them to remain aware of any issues even when they are out of the office.

Other new additions to version 5.0 of Merlin.net include the Auto EHRDirect Export feature for standardised data transfer procedures.

Last week, the company published its financial report for 2011, highlighting a nine percent annual increase in sales.
