Eisai’s H3 Biomedicine announces new cancer collaboration

Eisai affiliate H3 Biomedicine has entered into a new strategic alliance with Compendia Bioscience on the development of innovative cancer therapies.

The three-year licensing agreement will see H3 Biomedicine gain access to Compendia's full suite of Oncomine tools – including Oncomine Concepts Edition and Oncomine Power Tools Edition – to aid research into next-generation therapies.

It will also involve the two organisations working together to extract data from the Cancer Genome Atlas to discover novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers.

Dr Markus Warmuth, chief executive officer of H3 Biomedicine, said the companies share the view that better understanding of the molecular characteristics and diversity of cancer patients is vital to creating effective new treatments.

"Compendia is the clear and recognised industry leader in applying cancer genomics to the discovery and development of cancer therapeutics," he added.

H3 Biomedicine specialises in the integration of cancer genomics with synthetic organic chemistry and tumour biology capabilities, with funding and operational support from Eisai.
