Lab M appoints new managing director

Lab M has announced the appointment of Ian Morris as its new managing director, based at the company's headquarters in Bury.

Mr Morris took up the role in January 2012 and was selected based on his strong background in science, as well as his proven success in business at a senior level.

Over the course of his career, he has accrued extensive experience in spearheading corporate expansion and in driving start-up businesses into new areas.

Lab M chairman Colin Goodwille hailed Mr Morris' knowledge of the specific regulatory requirements of the environmental, food and pathology testing industries as a key factor in his recruitment.

He added: "He brings direct understanding of many of the key industries that Lab M serves and for the past ten years has held directorships in commercial contract laboratories."

Last month, the company highlighted the benefits of its culture media range in response to a recent series of food recalls, which helped to underline the importance of proper hygiene programmes in protecting public health.
