Systagenix’s new WoundChek device purchased by Brentwood hospital

Systagenix has sold its first WoundChek Protease Status diagnostic testing system to Brentwood Community Hospital.

The healthcare facility, which is part of the North East London NHS Foundation Trust, will be using the new system as part of its tissue viability service, for use on its patients with chronic wounds.

Systagenix's device offers advantages over traditional wound assessment methods by allowing elevated protease activity – an invisible but reliable indicator of stalled, non-healing chronic wounds – to be identified in only 15 minutes.

It has received CE Mark accreditation and is currently being rolled out across Europe, South Africa and the Middle East.

Ray Norris, clinical nurse specialist for tissue viability for North East London NHS Foundation Trust, said the purchase of the new system will remove "some of the guesswork" from the diagnostic process, thus benefiting care quality.
