GE Healthcare to evaluate Global Patient Safety Network

GE Healthcare has launched an evaluation period for the Global Patient Safety Network (GPSN), an online resource that will allow international hospitals to work together collaboratively.

A 90-day free trial is set to be conducted to provide hospitals with the opportunity to work together with local and global peers via the GPSN service, in order to gather data on how the information exchange network functions.

Running from April until June 2012, the aim of the evaluation is to show how more collaborative working can help healthcare facilities worldwide to improve patient safety standards.

Providers from the UK, US and Canada will all be involved in the trial, which will hopefully pave the way for the launch of a commercial product later this year.

Jeff Terry, general manager for operations optimisation at GE Healthcare Performance Solutions, said: "The role of the Global Patient Safety Network is to make it easier to find relevant content and to connect and share with global peers working on precisely the same issues."

This comes after the organisation launched a new web-based electronic foetal heart rate monitoring programme last month.
