CareFusion announces Phacts acquisition

12th March 2012

CareFusion has announced a new agreement through which it will acquire Phacts, a technology and consulting company serving the pharmacy sector.

The deal will see CareFusion combine Phacts' product offerings with its own Pyxis dispensing technologies, allowing it offer technology that helps hospital pharmacies to manage inventory, reduce pharmaceutical costs and streamline operations.

Phacts offers various software and automation solutions for health systems, including Pharmogistics pharmacy inventory management software and the PharmoPack packaging and labelling system.

CareFusion has been selling Phacts products worldwide since November 2010 under a global marketing agreement.

Tom Leonard, president of medical systems at CareFusion, said: "The acquisition will enable us to more directly integrate Phacts capabilities into our core CareFusion Pyxis technologies and expand our portfolio to further strengthen our comprehensive, end-to-end medication management offering."

This comes after CareFusion saw extensive business benefits last year following its acquisition of Rowa Technologies in August.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801315471-ADNFCR
