MSD Animal Health expands Vidalta availability to EU
MSD Animal Health has announced that its feline hyperthyroidism treatment Vidalta is to be made available across Europe.
The treatment, which has been available in the UK since 2008, successfully completed its mutual recognition procedure in October 2011 and will now be rolled out across the continent.
As the first and only once-daily tablet for starting treatment of feline hyperthyroidism, it is able to reduce stress for pets and their owners and improve compliance, while also leading to better control of symptoms.
The drug therapy is also designed to be continued once daily or every other day as required.
Nicolas Renard, global marketing director of companion animal pharmaceuticals at MSD Animal Health, said: "The once-daily prolonged-release formulation is thought to offer improved convenience for the cat owner."
Last year, the company saw an 11 percent year-on-year growth in annual sales, thanks to rising demand for its swine, poultry and companion animal products.
