SonoSite ultrasound systems to be used in field by UK military

21st March 2012

SonoSite's point-of-care ultrasound systems are set to be used by the UK military for field hospital use.

The medical technology firm has announced that it will be supplying the British armed forces with radiology-led diagnostic portable devices and FAST hand-carried ultrasound units for battlefield applications for the first time.

SonoSite ultrasound equipment has been widely used by HM Armed Forces hospitals and medical facilities for the past decade, thanks to their ease of use, rapid performance and high-quality results.

However, it is the robust construction of the units that has particularly helped to convince army professionals to use the devices in active theatres of operation.

A military radiographer said: "SonoSite equipment is already in widespread use in military facilities here in the UK and so it makes sense for medical teams to use equipment they are already familiar with in the field."

Earlier this year, the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust praised the MTurbo and MicroMaxx hand-carried ultrasound systems for their intuitive design, high accuracy and flexible capabilities.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801323103-ADNFCR
