Spectrum UK enter partnership with Merge Healthcare

Spectrum UK has joined up with global enterprise imaging and interoperability solutions provider Merge Healthcare, which is based in Chicago.

The partnership will offer an additional level of expertise to Spectrum's IT and Information portfolio, with the company expressing its hope the move will allow it to continue its innovation in the field of ophthalmology.

Merge Healthcare acquired Ophthalmic Imaging Systems in 2011 and has recently added eye-care to its various specialities, which include PACS solutions for radiology, orthopaedics and cardiology in addition to several other advanced interoperability software platforms.

Both companies will hope that working together will allow them to progress in their respective fields.

Spectrum is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012. Founded in 1987, the company is the largest privately owned independent distributor of ophthlamic surgical products and diagnostic equipment to healthcare professionals in the UK.

In November 2008, Spectrum UK and Laboratoires Thea formed a partnership with the aim of introducing new pharmaceutical products to British and Irish markets.
