ALK Abello has appointed Steen Riisgaard as its new chairman during the company's first meeting of its newly assembled board of directors.
Mr Riisgaard, the current chief executive officer of fellow healthcare company Novozymes, was elected alongside new vice-chairman Christian Dyvig and will aid ALK in its efforts to develop new allergy and asthma therapies.
He said: "I look forward to contributing to ALK's generation of considerable growth in the years ahead through continued global commercialisation of allergy vaccination."
The appointment came shortly after the company's 2012 annual general meeting, during which new remuneration and share allocation strategies were agreed, while Deloitte was reappointed as ALK's auditor.
Meanwhile, Lars Holmqvist and Thorleif Krarup were also re-elected to the board of directors' audit committee.
This comes after ALK Abello experienced its best ever financial performance in 2011, with revenue rising by ten percent year on year thanks to high allergy vaccine sales and profitable partnerships.
