Kimberly-Clark announces executive retirement

Kimberly-Clark has announced the imminent retirement of Jan Spencer, its senior vice-president for continuous improvement, sourcing and sustainability.

Mr Spencer will leave the health and personal care company on July 1st 2012 following an illustrious 34-year career with the firm, during which he served in various senior leadership roles.

He was responsible for driving revenues of Kimberly-Clark Professional to more than $3 billion (£1.88 billion) during his time in charge of the business, while he also headed the European tissue and washroom unit and acted as vice-president of research and development.

Most recently, Mr Spencer's efforts to develop the company's continuous improvement operations led to enhanced quality and productivity.

Thomas Falk, chairman and chief executive officer of Kimberly-Clark, said: "Jan has been a transformational change leader at Kimberly-Clark and his influence will be missed across the globe."

Last month, the organisation was included in the 2012 ranking of the world's most ethical companies, compiled by business thinktank the Ethisphere Institute.
