Horiba Medical’s HemaCAM validated by new study
Horiba Medical has highlighted a newly published scientific validation study that underlines the effectiveness of its HemaCAM computer-assisted microscopy module for blood smear analysis.
A study undertaken by Saint-Joseph Saint-Luc Hospital has determined that the slide digitalisation system offers useful additional functionality compared to existing systems for automated cell image acquisition and identification.
The device was praised for its ability to automatically acquire and recognise cell images from blood smears and to discriminate between normal and abnormal cells, while its sensitivity and specificity also earned acclaim.
"HemaCAM significantly reduces the laboratory work load and simplifies the creation of a quick and objective differential blood count even for more unusual blood samples, through its fully automated analysis of stained blood smears," said the manufacturer.
Last month, the group's Horiba Scientific division attended the 2012 Pittcon life sciences conference and exhibition, where it demonstrated the benefits of its user-friendly new LabSpec 6 Raman software platform.
