Boston Scientific launches Emerge PTCA dilatation catheter in Europe
Boston Scientific has announced the European launch of its new Emerge percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) dilatation catheter.
The device is a next-generation pre-dilatation balloon catheter that aims to provide exceptional deliverability to address challenging lesions and has received CE Mark accreditation.
Available in both Monorail and over-the-wire options, the product offers benefits such as a low profile and a durable balloon material, allowing clinicians to improve outcomes regardless of which version they select.
The catheter is being launched in CE Mark countries immediately, with US regulators currently carrying out their own review of the product.
Kevin Ballinger, president of Boston Scientific's cardiovascular division, said: "The Emerge Catheter builds on Boston Scientific's expertise in developing leading catheter technology and our commitment to offering the most advanced devices to treat coronary artery disease."
This week, the company completed enrolment for Reprise I, a new clinical trial for its Lotus aortic valve system.
