Forest Laboratories presents new data on psychiatric drugs

Forest Laboratories is presenting new clinical data on a pair of important new therapies for psychiatric conditions at a medical meeting this week.

The company is attending the American Psychiatric Association (APA) annual meeting in Philadelphia in order to discuss late-stage results for cariprazine and levomilnacipran.

Cariprazine – an investigational antipsychotic agent discovered by researchers at Gedeon Richter – is being showcased in two poster presentations for a phase III trial for acute mania in bipolar I disorder, while results from an open-label extension study in schizophrenia will also be discussed.

Meanwhile, the Pierre Fabre co-developed levomilnacipran will be the subject of four presentations demonstrating its performance in phase III studies which illustrate its potential as a therapy for major depressive disorder among adults.

Both cariprazine and levomilnacipran were identified in Forest Laboratories' most recent financial report as being instrumental to future growth strategies, with regulatory submissions for the products planned this year.
