Bayer HealthCare to present phase III cancer data at ASCO 2012

18th May 2012

Bayer HealthCare will be showcasing data from its late-stage oncology pipeline at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2012 annual meeting.

During the industry conference in Chicago next month, the company will present phase III trial data on a number of key therapies, including the approved product Nexavar and the investigational compounds regorafenib and Alpharadin.

Initial trial data will be featured that outlines the efficacy of regorafenib as a therapy for gastrointestinal tumours, while updated survival results from a study of Alpharadin among castration-resistant prostate cancer patients will also be presented.

This demonstrates the company's commitment to tackling hard-to-treat advanced cancers, for which there is currently a significant need for new therapies.

Dr Kemal Malik, head of global development and member of the executive committee at Bayer HealthCare, said: "At Bayer, we prize innovation and have focused our efforts on a portfolio of oncology compounds with the potential to transform the way cancer is treated."

Last month, the company announced plans to expand its oncology collaboration with Amgen to cover a wider range of cancer therapies.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801366242-ADNFCR
