Medtronic receives approval for new Resolute Integrity indications
Medtronic's Resolute Integrity coronary stent system has been granted European regulatory approval in a number of new indications.
The device has now been ratified for use in the treatment of acute coronary syndromes, acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina, bifurcations, total occlusions and in-stent restenosis, in addition to its existing indications for diabetes and multi-vessel disease.
Resolute Integrity is now the drug-eluting stent with the broadest range of approved indications in Europe, with the regulatory decision based in part on positive data from the recent Resolute All Comers trial.
This study demonstrated the safety and the efficacy benefits that Medtronic's stent can offer in comparison to a key competitor.
Professor Stephan Windecker of Bern University Hospital in Switzerland said: "The rigorous design and conduct of the study … makes the results highly relevant to the contemporary clinical practice of interventional cardiology worldwide."
Last month, the company published data from a study of its renal denervation system Symplicity, showing the product's benefits for treatment-resistant hypertension patients.
