Philips MicroDose Mammography benefits Kent screening service

Philips' MicroDose Mammography system has earned praise from breast screening service providers in Kent.

The Kent screening programme has recently upgraded its equipment to exclusively use this technology in all eight of its mobile breast screening trailers operating in the region.

Benefits of the new systems include their intuitive workflow, high image quality, robust detectors and low dosage, which helps to make the process less demanding for staff and patients alike.

Meanwhile, the fact that images from each device are fed back into a single breast imaging picture archiving and communication system solution also strengthens the close working links between the east Kent, Maidstone and Medway screening services.

Helen Macdonald, senior mammographer at the east Kent screening service in Canterbury, said: "The patient experience is improved; contact with the patient is maximised as it is no longer necessary to turn away from the patient to load the processor."

Last month, Philips earned further positive testimony from Sussex Cancer Centre, the first UK user of its O-MAR software package.
