PerkinElmer to develop health research centre
PerkinElmer has announced plans to create a new personalised health innovation centre of excellence in Massachusetts.
The aim of this development will be to accelerate scientific innovation in the field of diagnostic and therapeutic products for use in the elimination of disease and improving quality of life.
It will be fully operational by the end of 2012 and is set to bring together leaders from within PerkinElmer's chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology and reagent development research and development teams.
Kevin Hrusovsky, president for life sciences and technology at PerkinElmer, said: "The expertise promoted by the centre will help bring novel and disruptive solutions to our customers, aiding their research in next-generation treatments, early detection and disease prevention."
Earlier this month, the company announced plans to host a series of Revolutionaries for Global Health Summits around the world, kicking off with events held in Boston and London over the last week.
