Immunodiagnostic Systems’ IDS-iSYS introduces hypertension assays

Immunodiagnostic Systems has introduced two new assays for aldosterone and direct renin on the IDS-iSYS immunoassay system, marking its entry into the hypertension testing market.

The two assays can be used to diagnose primary aldosteronism, also known as Conn's syndrome, which is the most prevalent form of secondary hypertension.

Run times are minimised as a consequence of being the only combined automated aldosterone and renin tests that can be performed simultaneously, with the manufacturer believing usage of the assays will double within three years.

Following this launch, the IDS-iSYS system now supports a total of 13 specialist immunoassays.

Ian Cookson, chief executive officer of Immunodiagnostic Systems, said: "We continue to work on innovative new automated specialist assays and we look forward to announcing further product launches later this year."

This comes after the company introduced the first ever automated assay for 1.25-dihydroxyvitamin D for the IDS-iSYS system in April 2012.
