NPA commences flu vaccination training for 2012-13
The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) has kicked off its flu vaccination programme for 2012-13 with a session on June 10th 2012.
Attended by more than 20 NPA members, the event saw participants gaining first-hand experience of administering injections and dealing with anaphylaxis and performing resuscitation.
Further sessions will be taking place across the country until the beginning of September at English venues such as St Albans, Birmingham, Manchester, London, Leeds and Exeter, as well as locations in Wales and Scotland.
This will aid the NPA's efforts to help more patients benefit from the convenience and accessibility of a pharmacy-based flu vaccination service.
Participant Raj Patel, a pharmacist from Wimbledon Chase, said: "The training was very hands-on, which allowed us to practise our technique under the watchful eye of an experienced professional."
Currently, the NPA is also encouraging pharmacists to get involved in a national lung cancer public awareness campaign that will run until the end of this month.
