Leica Microsystems has announced a new technology alliance with Indica Labs that will see the companies integrating their respective product offerings.
Digital pathology solutions from Leica are to feature compatibility with Indica's advanced image analysis algorithm portfolio, thus greatly facilitating the assessment of complex digital pathology data.
Indica's image analysis algorithms for molecular assay and morphological feature detection and quantification in whole slide images will link with Leica's Tissue IA product to meet laboratories' varied analysis needs in a customisable manner.
Donal O'Shea, head of digital pathology at Leica Microsystems, said the alliance with Indica will help customers to "engage with a specialist vendor to seek high-end image analysis capability, while leveraging the underlying power of Leica Microsystems' digital pathology solutions".
Last month, Leica announced the launch of its new Leica DM4000 B LED microscope system, a device equipped with innovative LED illumination technology that makes it ideally suited to biomedical applications.
