Jacqui Molyneux invested as new RCVS president

Jacqui Molyneux has been invested as the new president of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) at the organisation's AGM and Awards Day.

Ms Molyneux graduated from the University of Bristol in 1981 and began her career in a small animal practice in Liverpool, before moving to the north-east where she established her own practice in a small mining community near Consett.

In 2000, she obtained her Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, while she is currently studying at the University of Birmingham toward a Masters Degree in Clinical Oncology.

She was elected to the RCVS Council in 2005, serving for four years on its disciplinary committee, as well as being a member of the Small Animal Surgery Certificate Board.

Ms Molyneux paid tribute to outgoing president Jerry Davies, commenting: "He has been a true captain on the bridge, leading us through some stormy waters and I personally have really appreciated his steadfastness."

The appointment comes shortly after Nick Stace, the former chief executive of Australian consumer body CHOICE, was named as the new chief executive and secretary of the RCVS.
