NPA releases standard operating procedure guide for new EPS

24th August 2012

The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) has published a new standard operating procedure guide for the electronic prescription service (EPS).

It incorporates details to streamline the dispensing of prescriptions, repeat orders and also the submission of prescriptions for reimbursement via EPS Release 2.

Outlined in the document are the answers to a number of key questions, including what pharmacy staff – including locums – need to do if they work in different stores frequently.

Leyla Hannbeck, head of pharmacy at the NPA, said: "We are pleased to offer our members these useful resources to help them to keep up to date with the EPS rollout."

She added that the NPA has worked alongside a range of stakeholders to deliver this document, helping to ensure practices across the UK can deliver the best results.

EPS is targeted at improving efficiencies for both patients and staff in the NHS, ensuring prescriptions can be sent electronically to dispensers of the patient's choice swiftly and with ease.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801435868-ADNFCR
