Philips’ AlluraClarity benefits Nottingham City Hospital

Philips has highlighted the positive reaction of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust staff following a recent upgrade to the AlluraClarity interventional X-ray system.

Nottingham City Hospital has replaced its existing Allura Xper FD10 EP Cockpit XL lab with the next-generation Philips system, which incorporates ClarityIQ technology to deliver high-quality images with an extremely low X-ray dose.

It is thought that ClarityIQ can cut dosages by 73 percent in neurological applications, 50 percent in cardiac operations and 83 percent in vascular interventional procedures, delivering benefits for surgeons and patients alike.

Philips will collaborate with the hospital to help refine the system as needed, allowing clinicians to get to grips with its 3D atriography (ATG) capabilities.

Chantel Brookes, specialist radiographer for interventional radiology at Nottingham City Hospital, said: "We feel that we are learning each time we perform a 3D ATG, which is to be expected, and are very positive this will become routine for a lot of ablation procedures."

Last week, Philips announced the appointment of Neil Mesher as its new UK and Ireland managing director for healthcare, succeeding John Atwill.
