Abbott included in Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes
Abbott's dedication to corporate responsibility has been underlined once again by its inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes.
The medical technology firm has been named in both the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and North America Index for the eighth consecutive year, ranking among the top 300 for corporate sustainability among large companies.
Moreover, it earned recognition as an industry leader in environmental reporting and climate strategy, while its overall score of 76 percent is considerably higher than the sector average of 48 percent.
Other areas in which the company received particular praise included innovative philanthropy, stakeholder engagement, and risk and crisis management.
Katherine Pickus, divisional vice-president for global citizenship and policy at Abbott, said: "Continued recognition by Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes helps us to benchmark our efforts compared to other leading companies and also inspires us to continue pursuing new opportunities … to help improve lives around the world."
Last month, Abbott bolstered its medical device portfolio by securing European CE Mark accreditation for its new Xience Xpedition everolimus-eluting coronary stent system and Architect second-generation testosterone assay.
