Henry Schein supports Cardiff Dental School trip to Ghana

14th September 2012

Henry Schein has helped Cardiff Dental School students to make a trip to Ghana to carry out a global outreach scheme.

The company donated 50 oral healthcare travel packs – pre-packed assortments of essential dental supplies to treat those in need – to International Health Partners for distribution to professionals in developing countries.

One of the supported schemes was the Global Brigades-organised two-week trip of 21 students from Cardiff Dental School to Ghana, where they were able to deliver treatment to more than 400 adults and around 500 schoolchildren.

Moreover, the professionals were able to provide education on oral health that will bring lifelong benefits, while toothbrushes and toothpaste were also distributed to youngsters.

Simon Gambold, managing director at Henry Schein UK, said: "We are very pleased to see that our donation is helping dental professionals provide crucial treatment for oral diseases, as well as essential preventive care to those in desperate need."

This comes as part of the company's global corporate citizenship scheme Henry Schein Cares, which aims to eliminate disparities in the delivery of healthcare services and information to underserved communities around the world.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801449836-ADNFCR
