Lilly and Boehringer Ingelheim unveil type 2 diabetes programme
Lilly and Boehringer Ingelheim have launched a new online programme designed to help adults with type 2 diabetes live healthy lifestyles.
Known as My Well Planner, the free web resource contains information for patients on eating habits, physical activity, taking medication and communication strategies.
It is designed to help people manage type 2 diabetes alongside their healthcare providers by setting personalised 'lifestyle goals' and working towards them at their own pace.
David Pass, vice-president of metabolism marketing at Boehringer Ingelheim, said there is "no one-size-fits-all approach to managing type 2 diabetes".
Patients will be asked to complete a self-assessment to determine their motivation levels once they have enrolled in the My Well Planner programme.
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of the condition, accounting for between 90 and 95 percent of all diabetes cases. In the US, it is estimated that 8.3 percent of the population suffer from type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
