St Jude Medical receives CE Mark for Eon neurostimulators

27th September 2012

St Jude Medical has received European CE Mark accreditation for a new range of neurostimulators for use in the treatment of intractable chronic migraines.

The Eon product family includes the standard rechargeable model and non-rechargeable EonC device, as well as Eon Mini, the world's smallest rechargeable neurostimulator with the longest-lasting battery in its class.

In addition to these devices, the company received a further CE Mark approval for Genesis, the industry's first implanted neurostimulation device for intractable chronic migraine.

These approvals were based on positive data from recent clinical trials and will provide medical professionals with new treatment options for this condition.

Dr Eric Fain, president of the St Jude Medical implantable electronic systems division, said: "We are proud to be able to offer this potentially life-changing therapy for patients who suffer with this debilitating condition and so desperately need a more effective treatment option."

Earlier this month, the firm announced a major restructuring of its business units to bolster efficiency, reshaping its operations to comprise two core units.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801458760-ADNFCR
