Smith and Nephew showcases new technology at ISHA 2012

28th September 2012

Smith and Nephew is attending this week's International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA) annual meeting in Boston to demonstrate newly approved indications for a pair of products.

The company is showcasing the Healicoil PK and Osteoraptor suture anchors, after recently receiving US Food and Drug Administration clearance to expand their indications within the hip.

Its Healicoil PK device can now be used for abductor repair techniques, while the Osteoraptor has been specified for labral reconstruction, both of which are innovative, emerging techniques.

Smith and Nephew will be allowing attendees of the ISHA conference to examine and learn more about the devices, while also witnessing demonstrations.

Alain Tranchemontagne, senior vice-president at Smith and Nephew's advanced surgical devices division, said: "Hip arthroscopy is not only one of the newest and most exciting frontiers in sports medicine, it's an area we've proudly helped to pioneer."

Last week, the company announced that it has begun a search for a new chief financial officer, following the news that Adrian Hennah will be joining Reckitt Benckiser at the end of 2012.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801459533-ADNFCR
