VWR Foundation celebrates 50th grant
The VWR Foundation – which supplies laboratory equipment in the UK and all over the world – has celebrated its 50th grant by dedicating a new science facility.
Last week, the Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School in Randnor, Pennsylvania, was opened and features high-tech student work stations that are conducive to teaching chemistry and physics.
The laboratory was made possible thanks to a donation from VWR, which has contributed more than $400,000 (£250,000) to date to organisations aligned with the Foundation's mission.
"It is our hope that this science lab will not only foster exploration among students during their high school years, but also inspire them to become the science leaders of tomorrow," president of the VWR Foundation James Bramwell stated.
VWR's history dates back for centuries in the UK, with the business starting with a number of drug and chemical companies, which evolved into the British Drug Houses Company in 1909.
