UCB scientist named visiting professor by Oxford Medical School
A UCB scientist has been awarded a visiting professorship at the University of Oxford's Medical Sciences Board.
Prof Ismail Kola's new role will see him both teach and contribute to research projects at Target Discovery at the Nuffield School of Medicine over the next three years and adds to his responsibility as executive vice-president at UCB and president of UCB New Medicines.
He has held the latter position for three years, driving the division that deploys a wide range of innovative and proprietary science and technologies as it works to find breakthrough medicines.
Commenting on his visiting professorship, Prof Kola said: "I'm honoured to be offered the chance to work with this world-class institution and look forward to sharing my insight and experience from industry and academia."
The announcement builds on current collaborations between Oxford University and UCB, which began in March this year and will see an investment worth £3.6 million into projects developing translational medicine.
