Virgo Health reports success of PR higher apprenticeship scheme

Virgo Health has highlighted the successful appointment of Ally Dwayne as a paid PR apprentice within its Consumer Health division.

The agency has become the first health PR firm in the UK to launch a higher apprenticeship scheme, with support from Pearson in Practice and the Public Relations Consultants Association.

Ms Dwayne was recruited following a review of a number of strong candidates through an extensive interview process and will be tasked with working with brands such as Seven Seas, Scholl and XLS-Medical Fat Binder.

This initiative aligns with government plans to expand the UK's skilled workforce and is open to people aged 18 and above who are seeking a practical alternative to a university course.

Anna Parfitt, HR director at Virgo Health, said: "We believe the programme will make a real difference to the future of the industry, attracting more talent and raising the profile of PR as a viable career option, especially for those who haven't attended university."

Virgo Health has been able to enhance its standing in the global media industry this year following its acquisition by Interpublic Group subsidiary GolinHarris, one of the world's foremost PR consultancies.
