ResMed posts record-breaking results for first quarter
ResMed has published its financial results for the first quarter of its 2012/13 business year, during which it experienced another record-breaking performance.
The company's revenue total for the three months came to $339.7 million (210.89 million pounds), up by eight percent year over year, while income rose by 41 percent and earnings shot up by 48 percent.
Both ResMed's flow generator and mask categories performed strongly, with a continuing shift to higher-valued flow generators such as the S9 Autoset and S9 bilevels aiding its bottom line.
In addition to these figures, a growing body of clinical evidence is emerging showing that sleep-disordered breathing therapy can help improve disease prevention and quality of life while cutting healthcare costs, which bodes well for ResMed's future prospects.
Dr Peter Farrell, chairman and chief executive officer of ResMed, said: "Screening, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring adherence to therapy for patients presents a significant opportunity to improve health and quality of life, as well as contain healthcare costs."
This comes after the firm generated full-year revenues of $1.37 billion during 2011/12, which represented a ten percent annual increase.
