PerkinElmer reports strong growth in third quarter

PerkinElmer has published its financial report for the third quarter of 2012, highlighting its strong business performance despite challenging macroeconomic conditions.

The life science company achieved an adjusted revenue total of $509.6 million (316.29 million pounds), up by 13 percent year over year, while operating income rose by 20 percent and profit margin increased by eight percent.

Both the human and environmental health divisions of PerkinElmer saw improved sales during the quarter, allowing the company to raise its earnings growth forecasts for the full year.

The firm retains confidence in its business model and will continue to make investments in its future growth and productivity initiatives.

Robert Friel, chairman and chief executive officer of PerkinElmer, said: "We are pleased to report another solid performance for the third quarter as global demand for our product and service offerings continued to drive organic revenue growth."

This comes after the company agreed a distribution deal with Tibco Software for the analytics and data discovery platform Spotfire last month.
