Biotronik reports positive trial data for Pantera Lux balloon

Biotronik has published new clinical data that demonstrates the excellent safety and efficacy performance of the Pantera Lux paclitaxel-releasing balloon.

The firm has highlighted 12-month results from the Delux registry, showing that the device offers strong performance among both diabetic and non-diabetic subgroups.

Over the course of the study period, Pantera Lux was associated with a low rate of major adverse cardiac events and revascularisation.

Based on the highly deliverable Pantera semi-compliant balloon, the device enables an optimal drug transfer to the target lesion tissue and represents an important therapy option for restenotic coronary artery lesions.

Alain Aimonetti, vice-president of sales and marketing for Biotronik's vascular intervention division, said: "The positive results reinforce our commitment at Biotronik to expand investments into the drug-eluting balloon therapy. We are currently exploring further indications such as coronary bifurcations and below-the-knee lesions with our broad Lux clinical programme."

This comes after the company announced the launch of its new BioMonitor implantable device, for use in the monitoring of cardiac arrhythmias.
