Thermo Fisher Scientific launches picoSpin 80 NMR spectrometer

14th October 2013

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of an affordable new nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer for benchtop operation.

The picoSpin 80 allows for the easy collection of routine high-resolution NMR data on molecules in solution, thanks to a 2 Tesla-rated magnet designed to provide superior resolution of chemical and structural characteristics that would not be possible at lower magnetic field strengths.

It features the highest resolution of any widely-known benchtop NMR instruments, according to published specifications, and does not require liquid cryogens, NMR tubes or other consumables.

The picoSpin 80 is a complement to the existing picoSpin 45 offering, which has enjoyed considerable success since its debut.

Simon Nunn, global marketing director of molecular spectroscopy at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "The picoSpin 80 and picoSpin 45 are game-changing instruments that make NMR analysis possible for more scientists, especially in academic, industrial or research and development laboratories."

Thermo Fisher Scientific has been offering these products exclusively since purchasing picoSpin in January 2013.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801649284-ADNFCR
