Actelion reports further positive financial data for 2013

17th October 2013

Actelion has published its financial results for the first nine months of 2013, during which it achieved a product sales total of 1.32 billion Swiss francs (907.94 million pounds).

This represented a four percent year-on-year increase on a local currency basis, while its core earnings were up by 14 percent to 496 million francs, meaning the company is still on track to deliver double-digit earnings growth for the year as a whole.

Actelion has succeeded in maintaining and growing its pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) franchise, with product sales rising and the new therapy macitentan (Opsumit) nearing the end of the regulatory review period in both the US and EU.

Meanwhile, the phase III programme for the new PAH drug selexipag also is on track to report data in mid-2014, while the company has finalised its purchase of Ceptaris, thereby adding the promising new drug Valchor to its product lineup.

Dr Jean-Paul Clozel, chief executive officer of Actelion, said: "With the acquisition of Ceptaris, we have broadened our product portfolio. Together with the Phase III initiation for our new antibiotic agent cadazolid, we are advancing in creating additional product franchises."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801650448-ADNFCR
